r a m b l i n g

we didn’t make it to the concert.
well we did.
we opened the door several hours late,
loudly interrupted the silence, and decided not to go in.

the night began with the husband
turning on our wedding song,
grabbing my hand, and dancing with me
ever so sweetly in the hallway.

we took our neighbors to the delicious black sheep grill
which i have talked about before here.
the night was filled with life conversations
and ended with drinks at spark.

monday i traded cooking and cleaning
for sickness with my husband.
the beginning of this week has been filled with
bad eating, sleeping, and tissue boxes.
wretched.

i was happy to be feeling better today.
i went to my mom's for lunch
and enjoyed the nice sun with
my lil man ranger.

life is good.

s a i n t v a l e n t i n e

eating the entire bag of candy your work gave you before 11 am is probably a sign that it is going to be a good day.

happy valentine’s day lovers… and haters.

to be honest i still have no idea what i am going to do for casey tonight. i am thinking station 22 vegan dinner (which i am going to pretend i made), the record player, old albums, candles, and some painting.
original I know.

you have to understand every day with this human is amazing.
i have never been more in love with that husband of mine than i am today.
i am sure i will say the same thing tomorrow.

there is nothing like lying in bed together in the late mornings,
howling and howling to get miss june to speak
and she just looks at us like we are idiots.
(probably what are neighbors think as well.)

or trying to sleep in the back of a van in the philippines
on a 3 hour car ride listening to rave music
with some germans, to jump in the ocean with 12 whale sharks.

we have just barely put an indent into the list of places we want to travel to.
we haven’t climbed the cliffs that we feel we need to.
we don’t have children.
and we sometimes spend money on climb gear rather than grown up things.
but i wouldn't change it for the world.

those moments of playing hangman in a park downtown korea,
where no one knows your language and no one from home knows where you are
makes you realize it’s you. and it’s him.
and that’s really all that matters.

“he’s more myself then i am.
whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
emily bronte
“so love, you should know what to look for
and exactly where to go…

take your time and don’t worry about getting lost.
you’ll find me.
up there, a finger and two dots away.

if you’re wondering if i’ll still be able to hold you
…i honestly don’t know

but i do know that i could still fall for
a swish of light that comes barreling
and cascading towards me.

it will resemble your sweet definite hands.
the universe will bend.
the planets will bow.
and i will say “oh, there you are. i been waitin’ for ya. now we can go.”
a finder, two dots, then me.

b l a c k s h e e p

saturday the in-laws came down to hang out with us.
if you knew my in-laws you would wish they'd visit you.

jannie, my favorite #1, brought us down a huge basket of goodies from her garden. i guess i should say their garden because marty, my favorite #2 is one hell of a gardener... don't mess with his fruit trees. most sunday's i spend a good hour stuffing my face with raspberries and blackberries behind the shed in their back yard... don't tell. we now have tomatoes, peaches, carrots, onions, and cabbage. perfect for summer cooking.

dinner out is always a tradition when they come down. maybe it's because i am no cook. regardless of the reason, it's my favorite. we decided to try somewhere new.
eating somewhere new is always risky, but this will not disappoint. i had driven by the black sheep cafe every day on my way to work and knew immediately i had to try it from the name. as soon as i heard it doubled as a native american jewely workshop i about died and pushed it as the place for us to go.

the food was incredible.
1. go early or plan on a wait
   this place is hoppin
2. get the blue fire shrimp
3. whatever you order, just make sure to
get the sweat potato fries. so good
4. stuff your face
spend a good amount of time doing so
5. thank me
6. go running and then go again

next i am trying the goat burger.... hand-pressed beef with goat cheese in the middle topped by a sliced portabello mushroom, sauteed peppers and a very tasty sauce - all wrapped in a navajo taco-type bread. holy amazing.

p i e r 4 9

sometimes I am just chilling at my desk at work
and a pier 49 pizza party is thrown
and out of nowhere i end up downstairs..
throwing down pizza likes it’s no one’s business
no self-control.
no brain power to remind myself of my healthy eating plan.
nothing.

and then it's over.

and then i feel like shit.

i will be running.
