t u e s d a y ' s t u n e s v. 1 0

a day late..

i'm pretty famous for completely wearing out a song.
i listen to one song. on repeat. all day at work.
on the way home. while i shower.
and as i get into bed at night.

for weeks at a time.

i use the shit out of it.
.... until one day i am just done with it.
i used it for all its got.
i took every meaning out of it.
i cried to it. i danced to it. i slept to it.

this is one of those songs.

the piano… oh the piano.
the perfect amount of whistling and snapping.
the subtle swaying tune is so romantic and inviting to dance to in the early morning hours.

alex ebert explained the meaning of the song to artist direct: "there was this idea and this imagery of various people struggling," he said. "then, in the best way possible, it just doesn't matter in the end. there's a relaxation of allowance and muddying everything up in the sense that i think a lot of our hard lines will dissolve in a great sort of spiritual rain, if you will. a lot of the divisions and the things so many people hold as paramount or important are going to be suddenly disappearing when the big rain happens. i mean that in a metaphorical sense. maybe it's death or some other time, but i do really feel that."

 all wash out
here come chilly preacher
stumbling 'gainst the wind
singing love, love is something to believe in
a prayer and the sea
and twenty tons of me
crying love, love is something to believe in

to my child of wonder rambling
all my crooked fingers pointing blame
let it all wash out in the rain
yes let it all wash out in the rain

beyond the drunken focus of my aim
all my heroes twisting in the flame
let's let it all wash out in the rain
let it all wash out in the rain

one more for forgiveness
twisting in the cold
singing love, love is something i believe in
too much my defenses
are dangling from the chain
oh but free, free is something to believe in

to my god i want my gypsy train
too my child a howlin' tambourine
let it all wash out in the rain
let it all wash out in the rain
yes let it all wash out in the rain
let it all wash out in the rain

t h e b e s t t h i n g s i n l i f e

i needed several days of rest from the weekend we had.
the warm weather, hot tub, food, climbing,
and chatting around the fire with friends was just what this
little heart needed.

but the concert. it was wild.
it was very wild.

sweet hannah over at
tagged me in this post.
and because i completely agree that
the best things in life aren’t things,

here are my best things

1. my husband’s love
2. appreciation
3. weekends
4. the history of everyday people
5. the middle of nowhere
6. strong, graceful women
7. going home to a happy animal
8. goals
9. dark, starry nights
10. pictures

and because we missed tuesdays tunes,
enjoy..
"some call love a curse, some call love a thief
but she's my home
and she's as much apart for this broken heart,
but see broken bones always seem to mend"

however, the video below was just too beautiful not to share.

t u e s d a y s t u n e s v. 7

i have read and re-read last tuesday's tune post
about 2 billion times.
and ya.... it's going to need a little more time.
so i did the most logical thing by
turning off my computer and
ignoring my blog for a whole week.

but because it's saint valentines week,
i give you the most romantic song in the universe.
so pour a little lot of wine
turn off the lights
and grab your favorite make out partner
because this version is that good
happy mardi gras
happy 204th birthday mr abe lincoln.

t u e s d a y t u n e s v.6

we are in the dead of winter.
our long walks to get miss june some air
have turned into a quick lap around the front yard.
my craving for the sun has become heavy as i try to balance
my need of money and my greater need for freedom.
isn’t that why everyone is still here.

all in it’s time.
all in it’s place.

for now my husband’s face will be my sunshine.

i was going to share a tune that makes me cry
but i decided against it. next week.
maybe then i can properly explain what it says to me.

for now everyone needs some uplifting music.
something that speaks
something that screams
you can do anything

yup. you can do anything

...and this video is bad ass.

"one thing before i graduate
never let your fear decide your fate."

t u e s d a y s t u n e s v. 5

wow. it’s tuesday again. this last weekend was a dream really. exactly how all weekends should run. surrounded with mates and lovers friday n’ saturday and lounge around sunday.  asian food house party, followed by bouldering into the wee hours of the night in our gnarly garage at negative degree temperatures was just the beginning. saturday, we got drinks and watched the broncos lose with some friends in salt lake. bouldered some more with amy and travis. and spent sunday sleeping in, cooking, and a long walk. in all honesty i wasn’t so wildly thrilled to go outside as it was negative 2 degrees, but i piled on layers and a scarf and enjoyed the empty roads and blanket of snow.

here is one of my favorite songs right now.  i appreciate the wisdom in the lyrics.

sunday was a bit dramatic for me to say the least. i think at certain times of the month, i should probably live at a hotel and have no communication with anyone for two days.

anyway, i took a long drive on my favorite old road. this song popped on and it is so catchy, i just fell in love.

weird. i know.

fast-forwarded two days and the husband and i are killing it with our mad dance moves in the car on the way to redbox. enjoy.

t u e s d a y t u n e s

the morning was good to me today.
woke up to wheat pancakes in bed.
spoiled.

i am just slightly obsessed with cat stevens.
it may be the record we play quite often at our house.
here are a few of my favorites.

t u e s d a y s tu n e s

this song takes me back to camping
just casey, annie, and i
high up in the mountains

we stood
steady as the stars in the woods
so happy-hearted
and the warmth rang true inside these bones
as the old pine fell we sang
just to bless the morning
